DQ-mat Newsletter #06 (October 2020)
Dear DQ-mat members,
we are now in month four of our second funding period, but business as usual is still far away with the rebounce in numbers of COVID-19 infections all over the world.
In an effort to create a sense of normality, we have compiled a hopefully interesting online DQ-mat Jour Fixe program for you during the next couple of months. We have invited Dr. Anna Ijjas, Prof. Dr. Guglielmo Tino, Dr. Christian Smorra, Prof. Dr. Jingbiao Chen, and Prof. Dr. Philipp Haslinger as colloquium speakers. The colloquium speakers are complemented by online block lectures that will be given by Pavel Cejnar on Quantum Phase Transitions, Georgy Shlyapnikov on the Theory of ultracold gases and possibly one more lecturer, providing more in-depth coverage of the topics. We will also pick-up on having more frequent Topical Group meetings. The first Jour Fixe starts on October 15th with a colloquium by Dr. Anna Ijjas from the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics, Hannover, on "Cosmology Reconsidered". You will find more details on all activities on our homepage soon: https://www.dq-mat.uni-hannover.de/de/news-veranstaltungen/jour-fixe
Mentioning our homepage: We need to update our project pages after entering the second funding period. Christian Engel will contact you soon and ask for your input.
We hope you are doing well and wish you all the best for the coming Wintersemester. If there is anything we can do to improve your situation (including child care, home office etc.), please let us know.
Wear your mask and stay healthy!
Piet Schmidt, Alexander Wanner, Christian Engel
