Duett; Residency Artist Mareike Bernien and Prof. Andreas Waag

Artist Mareike Bernien and QuantumFrontiers Co-Speaker Professor Andreas Waag discuss their work in science and art. What connects the two fields? How can there be an exchange and mutual inspiration?

Mareike Bernien was invited by the Science and Art Lab as TU Braunschweig's first residency artist. Since September 2024, she has been working with researchers from the QuantumFrontiers Cluster of Excellence and reflecting on (in)visibility in quantum research in a film project. Mareike Bernien has taught at numerous art institutions at the interface of theory and practice and currently teaches in the Media Art department at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig. She has been a member of the production platform pong film since 2018.

Prof Dr Andreas Waag is Head of the Institute for Semiconductor Technology. He is TU Braunschweig spokesperson for the QuantumFrontiers Cluster of Excellence and spokesperson for the board of the Laboratory for Emerging Nanometrology LENA at TU Braunschweig. Andreas Waag is a member of the speaker's council of Quantum Valley Lower Saxony (QVLS), the joint initiative of quantum tech groups from the Hannover-Braunschweig region focussing on ion trap quantum computing and other relevant enabling technologies.
